About the Area
Sussex County, New Jersey is the country. Lots of wide open spaces surrounded by lots of wooded state land. There are four major state parks and a couple of wildlife preserves. It's not unusual to have two or more deer sightings a week. It is also fairly common to have occasional black bear sightings. There are numerous lakes for boating, fishing & swimming. Here you can find Mountain Creek ski area and water park, with an alpine village in the making. There is a big selection of golf courses, some considered among the top in the state.
Local shoping is limited to grocery, drug stores, hardware stores and some specialty shops. To go to the major chain stores you have to travel with the exception of an occasional Walmart. Most commuting is done by driving or carpooling. The roads that service the area are Route 15, Route 23, Route 80, Route 94 and Route 20. A series of winding back roads will take you from the highways to your destination. Saint Clairs Hospital is in Sussex. Newton Memorial Hospital is in Newton.
